I have limits. That place where I draw-the-line. Tupperware, specifically The Tupperware Party. I’m not 100 per cent sure why I feel so strongly about this – it’s no fault of the product. On balance, I say yes to secure and durable food storage. I’m certainly pro stackable anything. And yet…

Where do you draw a line?
Caught up with the girls on the weekend – headed to the Southside Tea Room at Morningside. Sat there for a good hour chatting over coffee and amazing shakes when the penny dropped. The Grates! I know familiar faces when I see them… eventually.
No fan of reinventing the wheel, I found the following review of Southside Tea Room on Brisbane’s Weekend Edition – you can read the review here: Southside Tea Room: The Weekend Edition | Brisbane. (Excerpt bellow)
“Southsiders at heart, they’ve embraced their local community, sourcing sandcake, neenish tarts, cupcakes and cookies from Patience’s two favourite bakeries – Coralie’s Cake and Cappucino and Perriot’s Pies, both in Wynnum. A hefty variety of tea comes from Sydney’s Tea Craft…” – courtesy of The Weekend Edition
Southside Tea Room is no longer takeaway only so you’re free to wile away a rainy afternoon.

If it strikes you as hilarious in the cinema, feel free to laugh. Laugh as loud and as long as you like.
This is part of my 101 Ways to Live series (follow the link to read the original post). The freedom a bedarkened cinema affords is akin to flying and a darn sight safer (audience-dependent, of course).
Cat Power played Brisbane’s Tivoli Theatre last night. It was awesome.
I’m never sure if music I fell in love with in the 90s converts to today but I can tell you this Cat Power translates – with amazingly fragile raw soulfulness.
Having heard tales of her rather mercurial performances, I did spend the first 5 minutes reassuring myself all items of clothing were securely attached to her person and there seemed to be no reasons for her to flee the stage, camp out under pool tables and the like
Highlights for me was a spectacular cover of Boys Next Door song Shivers and an absolutely epic Angelitos Negros (photo taken during this number).
In a step that wooed the entire crowd, Chan wiped out a bunch of roses that was distributed among the audience and received the title sexiest woman alive from the audience.
A quick visit to iTunes or your local music store will acquaint you with the sounds of Cat Power. If you haven’t already, check her out.
in a whimsical six minutes as a beautifully put together clip of 1 second each day of 2012. Enjoy.
I write about living. Documenting an attempt of life – if I haven’t done it I’m not writing about it. This is an exception. The National Gallery of Australia in Canberra is hosting an exclusive exhibition and I am failing to see it.

Toulouse-Lautrec: Paris and the Moulin Rouge at NGA, Canberra until 2 April
The exhibition, Toulouse-Lautrec: Paris and the Moulin Rouge is a first for Australia. Never has such a complete retrospective of Toulouse-Lautrec work graced our shores. The exhibition promises works from early years all the way through to avant-garde. A comprehensive collection of paintings, sketches, prints and posters. You can see promotional footage here.
There’s also a great review of the artist and the exhibition at Art lovers to peek at Parisian underbelly (abc.net.au)
I love the expressive nature of his work and the sense of experimentation. I love the eclectic nature of his style, as he draws on impressionism, oriental motifs as well as graphic styles. I love the focus on the character of people and living. And I love that the collection is so tantalisingly close. Yet still so far…
Your car is not a cone-of-silence. You can (and will) be heard.
Over-estimating the sound proofing of your car can be highly entertaining. For your passengers and the occasional pedestrian.

This is part of my 101 Ways to Live series (follow the link to read the original post). The illusion of being in your very own private bubble is highly liberating. You can really set free and let loose on your favourite tunes. It is one of the last “shame free” zones, provided you’re not driving like a crazy person.
So crank up the volume.
Restoring words – this was a topic of debate amongst friends recently.

There are words that you just don’t hear today but with a little effort could be restored to conversation. So here’s a snapshot list-o-words I’d like to see have a jolly good dusting off, or de-fibrillation back to life. If you have your own feel free to contribute…
- Huzzah!
- Golly!
- Discombobulate
- Dastardly
- Splendid
- Marvelous
- Twee
- Spiffy
And lastly…

At this rate Queensland is going to get a reputation.

Image taken by Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield of flood waters in Bundaberg flowing into the Coral Sea. Visit @Cmdr_Hadfield on twitter for more…
For the second time in 2 years the city braced for a flooding… 2011 Floods were devastating enough, you can read about my personal experiences in the post Apres le Deluge, I am extremely grateful this time everything was different. But this time northern Queensland is enduring the worst of the weather. My heart goes out to those who are being effected, it’s hard to believe one single storm, ex-Cyclone Oswald I’m looking at you, can cause such havoc.
The following footage of the Brisbane River shows it encroaching on the inner city.

But that’s nothing compared to the footage below which shows what my northern neighbours have had to endure.
Flooding is even visible from space with images circulating the web from Chris Hadfield.
